Construction Mission - The purpose of the construction mission is to improve the living conditions of these Belizeans through the building of new houses, painting of existing houses or making improvements in the school or other community buildings. The houses are small by U.S. standards but represent a significant improvement in the shelter provided to the families in this hurricane prone area. A small (16x20) concrete block and stucco (CBS) house costs only about $5,000 and the larger (18x24) CBS house is less than $6,000. The family provides sweat equity in building their own house or one for another family.

A coat of paint on a house that has never been painted or a fresh coat on a badly weathered house not only brightens the appearance of the village but also brightens the spirit of the occupants. This spirit has turned out to be contagious. School Librarian for Cornerstone Foundation of Belize

School librarian needed to manage check out of books, shelving books, and other aspects of managing a small primary school library. Inspire parents and teachers to volunteer so that the library will sustain itself. Read to the children and encourage them to read. The library check out system at the school was developed in the 2006-07 school year, but there are no funds to employee a librarian.

Cornerstone Foundation is a registered non-profit community development organization. The objectives for which the Foundation is established are:

(1) To promote respect for self, for culture, and for environment.

(2) To promote human rights and universal justice.

(3) To promote community spirit, family, and a sense of connectedness among peoples within a community.

(4) To provide a means of empowerment and sustainability to youth, women, elderly, disabled, and indigent peoples; to provide relief to victims of natural disasters; to provide aid to youth, elderly, disabled, and terminal patients; and to promote health, welfare, and destigmitization of people living with HIV and/or AIDS.

(5) To preserve and promote respect and dignity for the unique and established traditions of diverse cultures.

(6) To promote respect for natural, renewable, and recycled resources.

(7) To provide training programs which will develop sustainable skills to those who have little or no means of support.

(8) To provide educational and inspirational materials for the use of the general public.

(9) To maintain relations with National, Regional, and International institutions in order to exchange information, publications, and other materials relevant to the purposes of the Foundation.

We have accepted the challenge of a new broadened view of missions. We believe that alongside traditional missionary service, of evangelistic outreach, there is a need in today's world for a retreat, where local Missionaries, Pastors and Christian workers are physically refreshed and spiritually renewed.

We will establish a Relief Center for local Missionaries and Pastors, that will be a place of rest and renewal, after long years of service.

We will provide a family-oriented retreat, in a peaceful and natural setting, unlike any in the world where Christian families and workers will be welcomed for recreation and relaxation.

It will be a place of beauty, quiet and peace, where the very atmosphere is healing, and the person can be made whole in body, mind, and spirit.
